All that glitters isn’t just gold, and that was proven at this year’s incredibly successful Lumière Gala. Guests, sponsors, and volunteers are truly what sparkled at this year’s event. An outstanding $222,183.30 was raised in support of the Queensway Carleton Foundation. This spectacular act of generosity will play an important role in helping fund vital medical equipment, providing QCH’s dedicated teams with the tools and resources they need to deliver exceptional care. This meaningful support will help strengthen the hospital’s ability to serve patients and families across our community. To date, Brookstreet’s popular late-summer gala has generated more than $1.5 million for local causes and this year marked the Lumière Gala’s 21st anniversary of this continuously growing contribution. The first gala was held in 2003 to kick-off the grand opening of the Brookstreet Hotel. It didn’t take long for the Lumière Gala to become a cornerstone of Ottawa’s social calendar, evolving into one of the capital’s premier philanthropic events.

Our VIP Reception with Terry Matthews set the evening in motion. The pre-gala event was intimate and a memorable start to the celebrations. Guests had the opportunity to connect, mingle, and raise a glass to an important cause. Once that portion of the evening concluded, guests proceeded upstairs where the main event was hosted in one of Brookstreet’s lavish ballrooms. Meaningful speeches were made, a thrilling auction was had, and delicious food was served. The excitement continued when Brookstreet’s guests had the opportunity to build golden charm bracelets and participate in contests for the chance to win real gold. As the evening progressed, guests were treated to the fantastic melodies of singer Rebecca Noelle while they enjoyed decadent cocktails. As attendees entered the hall, they were welcomed by an array of photo opportunities, a roaming golden angel, a live painting artist, and a talented pianist-singer dressed head-to-toe in gold.

This year, Brookstreet welcomed over 550 guests and made headlines for being a completely sold out event, with an “All That Glitters is Gold” theme. Guests were very spirited and fully embraced the golden theme, filling Brookstreet’s halls in sequins and satin. As for the decor, from the golden draped walls to the shimmering statues, every corner offered something to admire.

The evening concluded with a grand firework presentation. Brookstreet is grateful for all of those who assisted in making this event a reality and we look forward to welcoming everyone back next year. Stay tuned for Lumière’s next exciting theme.
