The Celtic Collection, in partnership with Wesley Clover International and the Alacrity Foundation, has launched a new tech industry networking event — Tech Talk Wales — with the inaugural event hailed a great success by those attending..

Building on the success of the long-running TechTuesday event series in Ottawa, Canada, the event brought together more than 70 technology business leaders from across South Wales and over the border in the west of England to share ideas and make real connections.

The event explored some of the biggest opportunities and challenges facing the country regarding the adoption of AI. Guest speaker Charles Radclyffe spoke with significant experience on the topic, explaining how AI is fundamentally changing the way we work and how we need to be better prepared to cope with the social impacts this will bring.

The keen interest in his presentation was reflected in the lengthy question and answer session that followed with the room fully engaged in the discussion. Growing from this exciting start, the next Tech Talk Wales event is scheduled for the autumn.

In the same week, Celtic Manor was one of the first stops for the King’s Baton Relay as it made its way through Wales in the build-up to the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

A proud partner of Team Wales, the venue used the special occasion to organize taster sporting opportunities for excited schoolchildren from Langstone Primary School, reinforcing the community message that resonates through the Commonwealth Games mission.

After making its way around Wales, the baton then received a final send-off at a special dinner at The Parkgate Hotel in Cardiff hosted by Commonwealth Games Chef de Mission and Celtic Collection Ambassador, Gethin Jones.

Sporting inclusion was also to the fore as the resort welcomed the world’s most talented golfers with disabilities for the G4D Open in May. Played over three rounds on the Roman Road Course designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr, the competition brought together 80 men and women players aged from 16 to 70 and representing 25 countries from around the globe. The inspiring stories of the talented competitors were featured in news bulletins on BBC and ITV as well as an hour-long highlights programme on Sky Sports.

Celtic Manor Resort won further international recognition when it won the Gold Award for Hotel Venue in the Eventex Awards 2026, a global benchmark for excellence in events. The Resort has also once again been shortlisted for Best UK Hotel at the Meetings & Incentive Travel (M&IT) Awards, an accolade it has claimed no fewer than 11 times. The Celtic Collection was named as a finalist in the Best Hotel Brand category, alongside much major multinational groups such as Four Seasons, Hilton, Hyatt, Marriott International and Melia Hotels.
